A leadership pipeline for Kansas.
LeadKS trains Kansans to be leaders in civic spaces across our state to strengthen democracy.
Why LeadKS
Kansas is full of people who care about their communities. Far fewer have been shown how civic life works, invited to take part, or supported once they step up. LeadKS exists to make the path into civic leadership clear, welcoming, and within reach.
What we do
Introductory workshops. Short sessions that demystify civic leadership: how decisions get made in a community, what it takes to make change, and where you fit in. Built for people starting out.
Training for partner organizations. Custom trainings and consultation built around what an organization’s members and volunteers need.
A path to a leadership role. When someone is ready, we help them take the next step: stepping up in a group they already belong to, joining a community organization that fits, or serving on a board or commission.
The fellowship. For people ready to take on a leadership role in their community: deeper training, hands-on experience, and coaching and support along the way. The first fellowship begins in spring 2027.
How we work
Our sessions are practical. People learn by doing, with their own communities as the material. We work alongside community organizations, so training connects to work already happening where people live. The leaders we train bring new capacity back to those organizations.
LeadKS is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization.
